As you are aware, the COVID-19 virus is disrupting travel across the world and requires organizations to revise their risk management plans. In order to promote the health of Mississippi residents, USM's administration is doing its due diligence, and has restricted travel of University faculty and staff outside of the state and is discouraging travel by anyone to our campuses in Hattiesburg and Long Beach, Mississippi. In order to comply with these administrative changes and travel restrictions, the NSSL has temporarily suspend its lab activities, including lab tests and product reviews, until May 1, 2020. We will continue planning NSSL product reviews and product testing via teleconferences and web-based meetings. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to resuming work with you when we are able to do so.
The National Sport Security Laboratory (NSSL) is outfitted to support professional development and training opportunities. Students, practitioners, and organizations are welcome to attend customized training and exercises in an environment designed to emulate a sporting and special event operations center. Through the NSSL connected venues, training can be extended to sport facilities and surrounding geography. Participants can recieve technology specific training or participate in a customized scenario designed to build or enhance multi-agency collaboration, event management, and incident management capabilities.
